I can't believe this is our last night here at Sunshine Coast. Tomorrow, we are leaving and going back home. Although I like that because I can hang out with friends again, I'm really gonna miss Sunshine Coast. Here, it's so small and everyone is super-duper friendly compared to Vancouver. I mean, Vancouver is nice with all the big malls, but Sunshine Coast is the exact opposite of that. Throughout my whole stay here, I only visited one mall (today) and it was really small. Anyways, time to talk about what happened today! Well, last night, my brother and I stayed up pretty late playing cards (everyone was already asleep) and we slept at around 12:15am. So today we woke up an hour later than last morning. But apparently, that was cool with our parents. When we finally woke up, we had a HUGE breakfast of toast, noddles and milk. (Weird combo right?) Then, we set out and went to Sechelt again. There, we stopped by A&W and mum and dad got some coffee, then we went shopping and just looking around. My brother and I got to pick something at the dollar store there, and we each chose these mega cool water pistols. (You know, the ones that are like water guns, but much simpler to operate.) And I got an extra pack of bouncy balls. Actually, none of the items we got were a dollar and the majority of what was in the store was over a dollar... so I wonder why it's called a dollar store. The water pistols were $5 and the balls were $1.5. So... not a dollar but pretty good stuff.
Then, after getting the water pistols, we went to the nearby Sechelt park whose name escapes me, but it was pretty nice. There were 2 different parks, 1 large soccer field, 1 basketball court, 2-3 tennis courts and 1 baseball diamond. I thought that park was especially awesome because there were 4 sets of see-saws, so I would rank that park an 8/10. I would have given it a 9, but there were a lot of Canadian geese on the soccer field and the pooped everywhere. (I'm very serious). I had to scrape poo off my shoe with a stick before I got into the car. There, my dad, grandpa and brother played soccer and the field, and my mom and I played badminton on the baseball diamond. Pretty fun stuff. Near the end, we started to play basketball with the soccer ball and when my brother spotted the see-saw sets, he and I went racing to play there. I don't know why, but my favourite playground apparatus would be the see-saw. Maybe it's because there aren't any see-saws around many parks anymore.
When we were finally done playing, it was almost 1:30pm. And like I said last blog, we planned to go swimming at the community centre, so that is precisely what we did. There were a lot of people already there at the swimming pool, so it wasn't as fun, but we still had a really great time. That swimming pool was actually pretty small, but there were enough activities to occupy us for a really long time. There was a water slide, a rope, a diving board, a fast-paced water current area, a fun pool, a deep pool, a hot tub etc. You get the idea... My brother and I kinda liked the fun pool more than the deep pool, so we spent the majority of our time there. But that doesn't mean we didn't go anywhere else! Because we tried out everything that was available. And I must say, we had a grand time!
So you might be thinking... What did we have for lunch? Well, that's just it. We didn't have lunch! By the time we were out of the pool, it was already 4pm, so instead, we had a little bit of bread and my brother and I went and got HUGE gelatos. Hey, I was hungry, and we're on vacation, so it's okay for us to have junk food for lunch. Yeah, for lunch, my brother and I had gelatos, kettle korn and pretzels. Yummy huh? I thought the gelato place was really cool. The people who served us where really friendly and nice and it was just plain yummy! My brother had a hot fudge-chocolate sundae (typical of him) and I had a pistachio gelato on waffle cone (not so typical of me), but hey, summer's meant for trying new stuff and flavours. I usually take waffle cone, but not usually pistachio, so voila, something new!
After finishing our very late "lunch" we went grocery shopping for dinner, and currently, mum's finishing up dinner, dad's cutting up the chicken, grandpa's helping out, my brother's in the living room playing D.S and I'm finishing up this blog so I can help out for dinner. I realized that I never really got to describe the cute little cottage we are staying at, so I'll try to fit that in some time.
My random thought/statement of the day: My brother and I have scheduled a major water fight with our new water pistols after dinner. Wish me luck so I'm not drenched at the end of it!
Toddlez!
