Okay, so today was totally awesome. Sure, there have been other awesome days, but this tops most of my summer days (except going to Sunshine Coast!). Today, my family and I went Downtown! To tell you the truth, I hate Downtown, but I think subconsciously, I love it. The part I hate about it would be all the homeless people, the druggies, the poor people asking for money, the dirtiness... I could go on forever just explaining the problems with our Downtown. But I'm not gonna, because that would be just weird. And probably slightly boring. But at the same time, I love the excitement, the shops, the malls, the people. It's what makes Vancouver what Vancouver is. Well, today after attending my brother and my dentist appointment, we went Downtown. The main reason we went down there would be because my mom had to run an errand for her friend. (We don't usually go Downtown.) So after running that quick errand, we started to decide on where we should eat lunch. In the end, my dad recommended we go to this student-operated restaurant. I'm not too sure how to describe it, but here goes. It's a culinary school that opens from 11:30pm-2:00pm for lunch (I don't know about dinner...) and chefs and waiters in training serve us. So in other words, it's a win-win program. Because those students get to practice and learn to cook for guests in a real kitchen in real circumstances. And the guests (us) get to eat high-quality foods and rate them, and in a way, also support their education. This culinary school is a part of Pacific Centre Mall Downtown, so not only do we get to eat delicious food, but after eating, we were able to go shopping. I purchased a cardigan from Hollister, and since there is no other Hollister location around where I usually shop, I was quite happy to shop there.
At the restaurant, I ordered an amazing warm salmon salad nicotice for my entree. This entree was absolutely delicious! There was a nice little spinach, tomato, potato, green bean and olive salad, (with the best exotic dressing and sitting on top of all that, was tender, juicy and flaky salmon fillet. For dessert, a vanilla-custard concoction sitting on a bead of cubed apples, pineapples and cantaloupes. (Sorry, the name of my yummy dessert escapes me.) And for a drink, I had iced tea. My parents, brother and I all had different drinks, entrees and dessert, so I got to try a lot of different dishes. I thought the service, food and presentation was just lovely, and if I had the chance, I would definitely go there again.
My random thought/statement of the day: I love food! Hahahaha. (And soft, cottony cardigans!)
Toddlez!
