Blog Summer14

The last 3 days have been extremely hot. I mean, 30 degrees and above hot. Luckily, I can sleep in the basement where it is at least 5 degrees cooler than upstairs. It's amazing how global warming can change things up. Last night, my brother and I went to White Spot with my aunt for dinner. And it was packed! We had to wait 35 minutes before we got a seat but the good thing was, the air con felt pretty good, so it made the wait a lot better. After we got a table, it took me so long to decide on what to eat. I really wanted to try a pasta, but at the same time, people said that the burgers were really great. In the end, I chose a pasta. I got the fettichini alfredo with chicken and I thought it was amazing! I also ordered a glass of iced tea. And to tell you the truth, I didn't find it "iced" enough. Sure, there were ice cubes in it, but the drink itself wasn't cold enough and the ice cubes melted away with 5 minutes. I thought the portions were really big because I am a big eater, but I still couldn't finish my meal. In the end, I still had half of my garlic toast and 2 mouthful of noodles left on my plate. But for some reason, I was so full, I couldn't even finish it. Weird huh? My brother on the other hand ordered the fish and chips. Personally, I really liked the fish. It was perfectly done and the fish was really flaky. The fries were really great too. There was also coleslaw on the side, and my brother didn't like it, so I ate most of it... On the other hand, my aunt got a nice-looking salad with some multi-grain toast. She also got iced tea. All in all, I thought the meal was delicious, and I would go there again!

My random thought/statement of the day: Today is not as hot as it was yesterday or the day before that, and I am truly grateful for the cooler weather!

Blog Summer13

Hot.... that's all I can think about. I know that this week is gonna be super duper hot, and apparently in Texas it is so hot, nothing can grow and everyone is suffering big time. So I should consider myself lucky. So I have my stereo on full blast so I can listen to music while typing this. Sounds good. I really wanna go watch Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (aka Snape) with my friends. But everyone seems so occupied with summer school (blah!) so I am left all alone at home with practically nothing to do but relax. No offence, but I don't really think summer school should be allowed unless it's repeat or a person really wants to take a course they know they can't during school or it's a fun course. Because I know some people who take summer school because their parents want them to, or it's a lot of work and they do it for learning. Personally, I'm an over-achiever, but not during the summer! Summer is the time to hang out with family, friends, relax and do fun stuff you have not time to do during the school year. But summer school changes everything. Then again, there are a lot of classes in summer school that are fun and just for fun.

Gosh, I really wanna watch Harry Potter. Not only because I have watched all the movies that came out, but also because I love Tom Felton! He is the coolest kid ever! (Okay, he's not a kid because he's an adult and he's also a lot older than me, but still.) Tom plays Draco Malfoy in the movie, and I think he's pretty good. I have also read the whole series a couple times over. Okay, the first 2 books were pretty good, but the rest of them are just blah. But once you start reading the series, you gotta finish it.

My random thought/statement of the day: I just realized I can read extremely quickly during the summer. I can practically finish a book a day!

Blog Summer12

Okay, so last night there was really weird weather. But it seems as if today is totally normal again! It's currently 26 degrees, which to me is already pretty hot, but compared to next week, this should be nothing! On the news forecast, it said that next week is gonna be smoking hot! That's unfortunate because I prefer freezing cold temperatures over super hot ones. Personally, I think I'm a winter person. Enough about the weather!

Today, I woke up at around 6:45am so that I could with my parents to wash my mom's car. I know it sounds totally weird, but I love washing cars. In fact, some day my fantasy job would be opening a car wash place with my brother. Well, kinda. So anyways, we had to wake up super duper early to wash my mom's car. And after that, we had breakfast/lunch. (It was only around 9:00am) but it felt like lunch to me! I had scrambled eggs with toast and ham. Yum! I love those breakfasts. They are always so yummy and they always fill me up.

After that, we came home and I took a nap for about an hour because I can't stand sleeping for so little especially during the summer. And then my mom, brother and I went out to Richmond for some late lunch at around 2:00pm and then we did a little grocery shopping and came home. That was when we all watched Gran Torino. In the beginning, I was somewhat skeptical, but after watching it, I must admit I was soooo wrong! Not only was that movie really good, but it was touching and the whole thing was amazing. The story behind it was really clear and although one might say the lesson is sappy and stupid, this movie played it out nicely and very realistically.

My random thought/statement of the day: Dang it, I was supposed to have played a lot of piano today, but I haven't even started yet! Better get a move on!

Blog Summer11

Wow, tonight there is extremely weird weather. In the beginning of the day, it was extremely sunny. I had my piano lesson right after lunch at 1:30pm, and it was still extremely sunny but at around 3:30pm or so, it started to rain. It was still raining while the sun was out and shining. After a while, it stopped raining and we were left with a cloudy sky. Then halfway during dinner time, it started to hail for half a minute and then rain... hard... with loads of thunder and lightning. I think the whole thunder and lightning process has been going on for about 3 hours now. We were having burgers when it started to go crazy, so my brother and I went out on the patio and started to dance and look around. I know it sounds really strange, but it isn't really. I kinda like this weather... I know it's not the ideal weather, but it's a nice break from the usual hot and sunny days. Now, the sky is a weird tinge of pink, purple, yellow, orange and blue. Truly beautiful. Ahhhh, I love this kinda weather. You know how some people don't like lightning and thunder? Well, I absolutely adore it! In fact, if there was a sudden light's out, that would be even better! I really wish we could have a black out... Unfortunately, we haven't had a major blackout for several years now. Ahhhhh, I really miss those days.

My random thought/statement of the day: I really wanna go see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince with my friends some time over the summer break!

Aaaah! I'm watching the news as I type this and it seems as if Kelowna is on fire! Literally. I feel really bad for all those people who live there, because apparently, there are 3 major fires burning around that area. And 3 houses have already been burned to the ground. They were just showing pictures of the burned homes, and one of them only has a brick chimney standing. Not only are many people being asked to evacuate, but the smoke looks really intense. I really hope that everyone living in that area are safe and no more houses go on fire, but truthfully, with 3 major fires and limited resources firefighters have, my hopes aren't too high. They were just interviewing some people and they all seemed upset about leaving their home, belongings and pets.

My random thought/statement of the day: I really hope these people find a place to rest for the night!

Okay, so I talked about the reception and dinner for the wedding, but there's more. I know, weddings usually just have 2 parts... and that is about it, but with all those family members there, there is much more to talk about. As I said in some of my earlier blogs, having all the family members there is truly fun and a privilege. Although not all my relatives could make it, 90% of them could, and that's good enough for me. After the wedding, some of my relatives left right away, but most of them stayed for a bit longer. One of the families were supposed to leave practically right away, but they missed their flight, so they stayed a night longer. A lot of my family members left at different times, but I still got to spend a lot of my time with them. I'm kinda sad that everyone is gone, but that's okay because maybe next summer we can go to visit!

My random thought/statement of the day: I love all my family members, because they are all so much fun and nice.

Ever tried blogging in a tent? Actually, I won't be too surprised if you ever did... but this is the very first time I am blogging inside a tent, and it feels interesting. Not as comfy as blogging on a couch in the living room like usual, but very relaxing. When you think of tents, do you usually think of camping? Well, just to let you know, that's what I think of. But I'm not camping! I'm just in a tent! Don't worry, I'm outside... but on the patio. Yep, that's right, I'm on the patio! In a tent! With Internet connection! Yay me! Well, here's the story: One day, when I was looking in the storage room, I saw a tent. So my brother and I went outside onto the patio and built it. And voila! We usually have the tent down in the backyard, but we're doing renovations, so it's virtually impossible to place a tent in the middle of a "construction zone". And that is why we are on the patio. It's a 2 person tent, and my brother and I are rocking the tent! In other words, we have put a blanket on the bottom to make it softer (the patio floor is not a picture of comfort) and with several pillows and another blanket as a "welcome mat" it looks very nice and hospitable. "What do we do in there?", you might ask. Well, I am blogging at the moment, but other than that, I usually knit. Yep, the school year is up, but I am still knitting! Why? For my grandpa of course! And after that, I will knit for all my other family members (mind you, I can only knit scarves...) but once I am done that, I will knit more scarves for the homeless and then give them all on Christmas. Well there we go, I just blew my mastermind plan in one blog... But that's what I'm gonna do! Seems like I'm having fun at last right?

My random thought/statement of the day: Don't worry, my next blog will probably be all about the wedding again!

Blog Summer7

Lets just say that the reception was super-duper fun and fancy. In Blog Summer 5, I talked about the fancy meal the night before the wedding, well the dinner we had at the reception was even more fancy. Everything was pretty good and impressive and I am sure I will remember this meal for a really long time. But first let me start at the beginning. When we finally got there, we walked into the 5 star Four Season Hotel, and let me tell you, it looked amazing. Everything looked really nice, and all the staff there were really kind too! After about 5 minutes of trying to find the right room, we reached it. We were slightly late, but that was okay. The first thing we did was find our family members and then we went over to the open bar. I'm under age, so I just got a freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. You know how those juices from concentrate are overly sweet, well, this one was perfectly sour! I know some people are not too fond of grapefruit juice, but I just adore it! Then, I went hunting for hors' devors (excuse my terrible spelling!). There were 4 different choices in total, and I was lucky enough to try all 4. The different choices were: crab salad, crab cake, smoked salmon and grilled cheese, and (my fav) lamb chops. I was so lucky I tried all of them, and I was even more lucky to have had 2 lamb chops. The lamb chops came with a yummy dill mayo, and it was just so good together. Not only was the lamb chop tasty, but it was also amazingly juicy.

After a while, we were all told to go into the dining room where we were all assigned tables. I sat beside my brother and one of my cousins (we are really close). After a short speech and intro from the emcees, we watched a slide show of the bride and groom put together by themselves. I thought it was really cool, and the music really set the mood. Then, we started the first course, which was a soup right after the rolls arrived. The soup was a lobster cappuccino bisque and I enjoyed it quite a lot. I found the soup to be on the salty side, but other than that, delicious! Then, the emcees introduced some really close friends to the bride and groom who gave a short speech. After that, the appetizer was served. It was sablefish on top of cauliflower puree with microgreens and a terryaki sauce. I thought this course was the best out of all of them, and I really loved every bite of it! The sablefish was cooked perfectly, and it was very flaky and flavourful. Then, the groom made a sweet, short speech and we had our main course. The main was a fillet mignon with baby carrots and asparagus in a peppercorn sauce under mushroom coucous. To tell you the truth, I wasn't so fond of this course. The fillet mignon wasn't really juicy and it was sort of dry too. The couscous was slightly hardened, and I didn't find the peppercorn sauce to be that great either. Finally, we had dessert which I found to be one of the better courses. There was a chocolate cake and the wedding cake. The chocolate was rich yet not too sweet which was good and the wedding! The wedding cake was a strawberry cream cake and it tasted super duper yummy! After a speech of goodbye and thanks for coming, people were free to go. Although there was dancing and midnight snacks, we went home since everyone was beginning to get tired. Well, we went home, but some of my older cousins stayed for the open bar and dancing. But the next day, they filled me in on it, and it sounded like fun!

My random thought/statement of the day: Weddings are just so much fun! I can't wait till the next one! ;)

As you know, weddings usually have 2 parts. The first part is the walk down the aisle with the pictures and the pretty wedding dress, and later, there is the reception with the fancy hors' devours and dinner. So in this blog, I'm gonna talk about "the first part", aka the ceremony. The ceremony took place in Cecil Green in UBC. Both my cousin and his bride was a graduate there, so they go to use the place. (Apparently only alumni get access to that garden.) So I must admit, the garden was beautiful, there was a little pond with water lilies and dragonflies, and the flower bushes were just divine! But the actual ceremony was really cool too. This was the very first wedding I had ever been to, so I didn't have any expectations or links to it. I was fortunate enough to sit in the second aisle, so I got a really good view, and a lot of pictures. The guy that did the talking and the binding was really funny too, and it made the whole experience even more enjoyable. When we first went, we just walked around, took pictures in the beautiful building and talked to others that were attending the ceremony. Then, we were all called down to the chairs. I thought the whole ceremony was very nicely organized, and everything seemed almost perfect. After that, there were pictures, and then we were free to go. I thought that everything was really nicely done. After we left, we all decided to go and have a late lunch. Since the ceremony was at 1:00pm, we had lunch at about 2:30pm. After lunch, we all went home to rest up for the reception at 6:00pm. My younger cousins were all super-energized, so I played with them for a while before taking a nap. Then, I showered and then we went out to Four Seasons Hotel, where the reception was to take place.

My random thought/statement of the day: Don't worry, I will talk all about the reception in my next blog, so just stay tuned!

So as you know, I had lots of fun at the wedding, and for the next couple of days, I have dedicated these blogs to talk all about it. Not only the wedding, but also all the awesome days before and after it. So the night before the wedding, all the family members went to this amazingly fancy Chinese place to have dinner. I think it was the very first time I had a Chinese dinner that fancy and expensive! I remember my mom saying it was almost $700 for the family, but after eating there, I thought it was worth it. There were about 12 dishes or so and they were lined up after another, so we would eat one dish, and then the next. That was also the longest dinner I ever had because we were there for about 3 hours from start to finish. The best dish in my opinion would be the lobster. There were many, many yummy foods, but the lobster was the most memorable. I think that was the best lobster I had ever eaten, it was juicy, sweet and tasted lovely... hmmm, just writing about it makes me crave more lobster. There were also noodles and rice (the typical). And I remembered for dessert, I had a really yummy mango sticky-rice thing, with a coconut and mango slab inside. Anyways, I just thought I had an awesome time. Not only was that meal one of the yummiest ever, but the view was also great. We were seated by the window, so we got to see the beautiful sunset. I think we also took a couple pictures... Ahhh, I can't wait to see them (we haven't downloaded them onto the computer yet), but when I do, I am sure it will bring even more memories!

My random thought/statement of the day: Yay, next blog is about the actual wedding!

Now, the reason I haven't blogged for a while, was of course, the wedding! Although the wedding was only for a day, a lot of my relatives came over, and I haven't seen most of them for a couple years, so I spent most of my time with them, just talking and catching up. In fact, I haven't seen some of my cousins for so long, I totally forgot what they looked like, so this wedding was an amazing chance to mingle.

Because I haven't been blogging for so long, and my life right now is very boring, I will spend the next week or so blogging about what happened at the wedding and stuff like that. This blog shall be dedicated to blogging about getting together with family members.

Well, I have missed a lot of my aunts, uncles and cousins, so when everyone got together, I thought it was like a miracle. Because I have such a big family, we rarely see each other all at once. Most of my cousins are a lot older than me, and there is a big age gap between us, so it was really cool to talk and be with all these people. We went shopping, eating and played at parks. We also went out for midnight meals a lot and one night, we went out at about 2:00am to have wonton noodles in soup and when we got back, it was around 3:15am. Although it was amazingly late, there were many people at the restaurant, and it was really fun. We also had the chance to go to the movies and we watched Ice Age 3, Dawn of the Dinosaurs. We went on a Friday night at 10:10pm, and surprisingly, there were a lot of people, and the theatre was packed! We also got back kinda late... if you call 1:30am late. I know, it's kinda bad, but I'm used to sleeping really late, because during the school year, I spend a lot of time staying up to study and finish homework and what not, so sleeping late is no new experience for me. I always knew I was a night person... and now I know where I get it from, because evidently, everyone in my family is a night person too! Cool huh?

My random thought/statement of the day: (Yes, I'm still doing these!) Today, I got mail from the school! And guess what it was? A term 3 Honour Roll certificate! Yay me!
