Blog Term2 Day34 AWESOME EDITION

For several minutes there, I was really confused. The night before last, I didn't blog, and last night, I only blogged for the day before. Meaning that I didn't blog for last night's today. So tonight, I have to blog for both yesterday and today. Confusing? Well, kinda. In other words, this blog is about what I did yesterday.

Actually, yesterday was a pretty simple day. Nothing too fancy. In fact, we spent the whole of yesterday at Tuen Mun which is another district. Right now, I'm living in Causeway Bay with my aunt and uncle. My grandpa and 3 aunts live in Tuen Mun, so we went to visit them. We've been to Tuen Mun before, but yesterday was the actual spend-time with grandpa day. Tuen Mun is quite far away from Causeway Bay, and since both my brother and I woke up late, we knew we were going to arrive at Tuen Mun after lunch time. We had to take the subway and then the bus for about 30-45 minutes until we arrived at the station. When we finally arrived, the first thing we did was meet up with grandpa and aunt. Then, we went over to the restaurant located within the mall they lived by and had lunch. By then, mom, dad, my brother and I were pretty hungry since we didn't have breakfast. I ordered beef udon in soup, my brother, spaghetti with meat sauce, my mom, Latska seafood noodles, my dad, chicken wings and pork rice and my grandpa, noodles in soup. The food was okay... But compared to all the meals I've had in Hong Kong so far, I think that meal might have been the worst. It just wasn't great. We also ordered drinks, and that consisted of, iced lemon tea, iced milk tea, hot chocolate and coffee. My drink was the iced lemon tea which is one of my favourite drinks. Besides hot Horlicks.

After lunch, we shopped around at the mall. The only thing we genuinely wanted to get were watches. My brother has a really nice watch he got for Christmas last year, so he didn't need one. But my mom, dad and me all kinda needed one. Well, both my parents don't need one, but theirs are pretty old. I don't even have a watch though. So I needed to get one. Once I went into the shop, I saw the perfect watch. It was kinda funny actually. Apparently my parents took a while to find a good watch. Mine is made of that silvery metal for the wrist and frame part. But the actual clock face is a deep blue. There's even a little box that has the date. Well, there's only the number, as in the day. But still, that's all I really need. And the best part is, (actually my favourite parts) are that it had a blue face, it has a silver wrist part, it's the perfect size- not too small but not too large, I can see the time perfectly, and it's a traditional one!!!!!!!! Well, I don't know if they're called "traditional", but they aren't the digital ones. It's the kind of watch with a clock face and hands. So awesome!!!!!!!! I'm against digital watches because although those have a lot more functions, if people always rely on those, they'll never be able to tell the time the good ol' fashion way.

After getting the watch (I love it!) we went over to my grandpa's apartment. There, we hung out for a bit. And I gave my grandpa his birthday present- a scarf I knitted!!!!!!! It took a while to make because I didn't want to mess it up. It's creamy white, and the yarn is extra soft. I think I got the yarn at either Zellers or Michaels... But anyways, it has a really nice texture. Then, my aunt, mom, brother and I went shopping for a bit. We didn't really get anything, just a couple of little cheese buns from the bakery. Then we went back to my grandpa's apartment to get ready for dinner.

That dinner's dedication was to my grandpa since his birthday is coming up. My great-uncle came in his car to pick up my grandpa, mom, brother and me and we took the long route to the restaurant while my dad and aunts took the bus there. The reason being, my great-uncle was gonna show us some scenery. It was actually really pretty with all the lights when it was dark out. Not bad. The only thing bad was the population, which I could see in the sky. At night, the sky is purple because all that smog is covering the beautiful midnight-blue colour. How sad... You can't even see a single star. Then again, it's Hong Kong. We even stopped by a hotel and took several pictures. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was already 6:45pm. Perfect timing, even though we were a tad bit late. The dinner was really nice, and the quality of the food was really great too. Not bad at all. What an awesome family day!

Blog Term2 Day33 AWESOME EDITION

Yesterday was all about meeting and greeting my mom's friends. In the morning, since my brother and I woke up late, my dad had already gone out the door. But finally, once both of us woke up and washed up, my mom, brother and I went downstairs for some breakfast. And when I type downstairs, I mean downstairs into Hong Kong. Because in Hong Kong, once you go out the door, you are already surrounded by the city and it's hops. Unlike home, where if you step out, there's a nice large green lawn staring at you. And then it's the rest of the neighbourhood. So different. Anyways, we had soy milk, steamed buns, pan-fried buns, a rice roll and wontons for breakfast.

After breakfast, we went on the subway to another district within Hong Kong, because we had planned to have lunch with one of my mom's old friends. So at around 12, we met up with my dad and mom's friend at the restaurant and had dim sum. We were still pretty full after that big breakfast, so we ate less than usual, but still quite a lot. If you know what I mean.

Then, we said our good-byes and my dad, mom, brother and I made our way to Mong Kok via subway. I really like the subway because it's the only actual transportation system within Hong Kong that I actually understand. The colour-coded maps placed everywhere might have a part in that.

At Mong Kok, our main goal was to get a cell phone. But at first, we just walked around. I really wanted to get a fresh mango drink, but in the end, we didn't get it. Instead, we got those egg-bubble desserts. Urg, I don't know what they're called in English, but it's those really famous waffle-like desserts. They're hot and shaped like bubbles, all stuck together in a honey-comb formation. Then, after polishing off that, we went to the cell phone store. There, while my dad and mom looked at cell phones, my brother and I played on those display X Box 360's they had at the front of the store. The game was pretty fun. In the beginning, I was totally winning, but by the end, I was creamed. Quite funny, actually.

For dinner, we had plans with a group of my mom's friends. First, we went to one of my mom's friend's apartment which was in the Olympic Village, then after everyone arrived, we headed out for dinner. When we were at my mom's friend's home, my brother, me and 2 of my mom's friend's children played Scrabble. I'm not going to mention their names because I don't have their permission. But it was fun. And that was the longest game of Scrabble I ever played in my life. We actually played until we were either out of pieces or couldn't use any more letters, and all the letters were taken from the bag. I won second place! That's pretty good. Considering I was losing in the beginning. I think. Anyway, it was really fun. That night, we came back at around 12 because we only left the restaurant at around 10:45pm. There were a lot of funny stories about my mom and her friend's childhood. Or at least teenhood. Funny!

Blog Term2 Day32 AWESOME EDITION

What a day! I think today was one of the most tiring days ever. And it's not like we walked a lot a lot. I mean, in Hong Kong, it's very different from home. Because in Hong Kong, there's always a lot of walking and public transit. At home, we mostly just transport via cars. Usually, the most I ever walk at home would be a couple hours at once, and that's just the weekend. During weekdays, besides P.E, walking to different classes and walking home, there isn't much walking. But here, one must walk to get anywhere. Pretty hardcore. Maybe that's why Hong Kong people are so skinny. They do a lot of walking. In Hong Kong, and any vacation, I always eat a lot of food, and I think the only reason I haven't gained several pounds a day is due to the fact I walk a lot each day. That's good exercise, so I'm happy, however painful it may be.

Anyway- on about my day. Again, my brother and I woke up late, so we started the day late. My dad had to go to Tuen Moon. Actually, I don't know if that's the actual English translation for that district, but that's my translation from Cantonese to English. I think the actual should be pretty close. My dad isn't that fond of shopping, so it was just mom, my brother and me again. But that's totally fine with me. After we were all prepped up, we headed out the door and went for breakfast. Since my aunt's apartment is kinda in Causeway Bay, we took the public light bus down to the main part of the district. There, for breaky, we had noodles in soup with baby octopus and fish balls, rice rolls and cold soy milk. Yummmm. I think I've really taken on a liking for soy milk since we had that for breakfast a while back too. But that time, we had hot soy milk in a bowl. Today, we had it in a cup at a different restaurant. I liked this cold soy milk, but in my opinion, it was too sweet. Still really good though.

After breakfast, I believe we took the subway to (ahhh, I forgot!) and then transferred to North Point. At North Point, we shopped around a bit. But mainly, we looked at bookstores. Actually, today was a bookstore day. I think we visited about 5 different bookstores. Anyways, we mostly just looked around. At the first one, my brother and I bought erasers. Then, at another one, all of us each bought some pens, my brother purchased a 3-D puzzle and my mom bought some book-cover plastic.

At around 1, we were getting kinda hungry, so we went to this famous supermarket, and on the very top floor, there was a place to eat food. Here's my Chinglish translation: Dai Pai Dong. Yeah, not that great, but it kinda works. There, we had some famous clay-pot rice and all 3 of us got drinks. And in total, the price was only $57. That's about 8 bucks in my terms. Crazy huh? You can't get that kind of deal at home. Not with that much food, and should I mention it wasn't even fast food. You can't even get that deal at a fast food restaurant back at home. Or here.

Then, we went back to the subway station and went to another district. (Darn it, I forgot most of the names!) What I do know is, that was the district my mom's old secondary school was. And since it was vacation and school wasn't in session, we got to go in. It's quite different. The schools in Hong Kong. There's actually a fence around the school. And not just the short ones people can climb over. These ones are full metal bars with spikes at the top. No kidding. I know that protects the school, but still... Wouldn't that kinda seem like prison? Not to mention that school has both elementary and secondary. That's pretty cool. I took some pictures, which I will try to upload when I get back home. Oh yeah, and another thing I noticed. The toilets there don't have any toilet paper. Good thing I brought my own tissues, otherwise... that wouldn't be a good situation.

After spending some time at my mom's old secondary school, we thanked the people who let us in and then headed over to the park that was right next to it. There was an old man with a vending cart, so we went over and purchased an iced tea and a small box of Maltesers. The old man was really kind and cute the way old people are. Then, my brother and I played tag at the playground. It was quite fun, and I haven't played tag in such a long time. After about an hour, we decided to get going. So went back to the subway station and went to Mong Kok. At Mong Kok, we went to another book store where I bought a book. It's called The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella. I read the blurb, and it seemed pretty good, so I got it. Plus, the price is a lot better than at Chapters. Then again, everything at Chapters is expensive. But Chapters has a very wide range of books, good for variety.

We shopped a bit more, mostly window shopping, and then at around 6:45, we met up at the front of a mall with my cousin and his wife, dad and my aunt. Then, we all walked to this sports club together. My aunt and uncle are members at the sports club, so they are very familiar with the surroundings. At that sports club, there is a restaurant, and the food there is surprisingly delicious. When I first thought about it, I was thinking that the restaurant wouldn't be that great, but I was totally wrong. And I'm glad to be wrong, because the food there was amazing! The portions were good, and the taste was very good too. Yum! We had shrimp, crab, at least 4 different veggies, chicken, curry and rack of lamb. And rice. And soup. It was really good, and at the end, my brother and I each got some ice cream for dessert. We also had some pomelo for the fruit. I got toasted almond ice cream and my brother mint chocolate. After dinner, we walked to the subway station and made our way back to my aunt and uncle's apartment.

Blog Term2 Day31 AWESOME EDITION

Surprisingly, I'm still fully awake. Usually, around this time, I'm either super sleepy or I just woke up from a nap on the subway so I would be quite awake. Then again, I slept for 10 hours last night. I slept from 11:30pm to 9:30am. Then, the first thing I did was take a nice hot shower. After the shower, I had to dry my hair, and that took about 20 minutes because the hair dryer is quite exceptionally slow. But that's fine. Then I washed up and we headed out the door. We didn't really have any breakfast because we were kinda rushing since my brother and I both woke up late and I took forever in the shower. But when we did, we took the light bus down to the mainer part of the city.

When we arrived 2 minutes later, we walked to the 116 double decker bus station. After the bus arrived, and we boarded, we went up to the second level of the bus and rode out until we were at Kowloon City. That was where my dad used to live, so he knew where to go and stuff. We walked around a bit, stopping at the occasional shop. In the end, we bought some towels, 3 long pants, a polo shirt, 3 rolls of wrapping paper and a Yoshi plushie. Then, we headed out for lunch at this -apparently- famous noodle place. That noodle place was famous for fish balls. So I ordered a fish ball noodle in soup, my brother, wonton noodles, my mom, fish wonton and my dad, a little bit of everything with noodles. The fish balls were the best I've ever eaten in my life, so now I can say I know why that restaurant is so famous. After a very filling lunch, my mom, dad, brother and I walked down the street and about 3 shops away from the noodles place, there was this little shop that sold fresh squeezed juices. Yum. They actually made the juices right after you ordered them, and you could see them make it. That's always good because most shops put sugar and other artificial products into the drink to make it tastier. Both my parents ordered orange juice, my brother got the apple juice and I got the strawberry juice. In my opinion, the orange juice was the best.

After our nice little lunch, we took the train down to Fan Ling where we met up with my aunt and together, we walked to my great-grandmother's apartment. We stayed for about an hour, chatting, and eating cake, but mostly just chatting. It was pretty nice. Then, we walked back to the train station, and on the way, we bought a roasted yam. I happen to really like yams, so that was a very fun experience. At the train station, we said good-bye to my aunt and we boarded the train back to Kowloon station, then we took the subway to this mall where we went to an awesome book store. After purchasing several books, we walked to the ice rink. And guess what? The ice rink is inside the mall! Cool or what? I wish we could have something as cool as that. I mean, we have whole ice rink stadiums, but having an ice rink inside the mall is beyond cool. There, at the bleachers, we ate the yam we purchased earlier.

After washing our hands, it was almost 6pm, and we had met up with one of my mom's friends for dinner at 6:30, so we made our way back to the subway stations. After a short ride, we arrived at the restaurant (well, we had to walk from the station to the restaurant, but that took under 5 minutes). When we arrived, my mom's friend was already there. So we talked and then ordered. The food at the restaurant was really good. Then again, I don't think I've been to a restaurant in Hong Kong where the food was bad. So good food in Hong Kong is no surprise to me. After eating, we took the subway back to Causeway Bay and then a light bus to where my aunt's apartment is.

Blog Term2 Day30 AWESOME EDITION

Today, I woke up at around 9. I might have slept until 9:30, but we were meeting my mom's friend at 10:30, and the location was kinda far away. But with Hong Kong's amazing transportation systems, one could get practically anywhere efficiently and on time. That's one of the things I like about Hong Kong. So after we arrived, we talked a bit, and gave presents to each other at my mom's friend's house. Then, we went out for dim sum. In truth, I'm actually not very fond of dim sum. I think it's because when I was younger, I had a lot. So now, I only eat a handful of stuff. But that's okay. Because there's always something I like among all the things I don't really love. So in the end, I'm content.

Then, we went shopping from after dim sum all the way to dinner time. My dad met up with his old friend and my mom's friend's family went on their own way. So in the end, it was just my mom's friend, my mom, brother and me that went shopping. We bought pajamas, a stuffie for my friend, and some other small things. I couldn't even find any good pens for my friends. There were a lot of pens for sale, but none were really that great.

At around 4, we let my mom's friend go, because it was getting kinda late, and she had to get back home. Then, just the 3 of us, we got some snacks. The snacks consisted of smelly tofu (a famous snack in Hong Kong), mango smoothie and aloe vera smoothie. Then, we met up with dad, and we went to this restaurant for dinner. I had steak, my mom, lamb, my brother spaghetti with a fish fillet and my dad, chicken and rice. It was pretty good. The food was average, but the service was amazing. Actually, most restaurants in Hong Kong have pretty good service. Well, then again, it depends on what kind of restaurant too. Because there are different genres. So it's hard to compare.

Blog Term2 Day29 AWESOME EDITION

Merry Christmas! Well, technically, it's boxing day here. But because of the time differences, and the fact I couldn't blog last night, Merry Christmas! Since I didn't blog yesterday, I'm gonna do my yesterday blog today. Hmmm, lemme reminisce about what I did yesterday... Okay, got it! Yesterday was major shopping day, so my whole family went on a shopping spree and we got a lot of stuff. Naturally. We had breakfast at a small restaurant where we had soy milk, noodles in soup, sticky rice and steamed buns. Mmmm, the more I think about it, the more I want to have a large bowl of that hot soy milk. It was soooo good! The sticky rice was too, but I just had dinner, so I'm really full.

After breakfast, we went shopping at Giordano and Bossini. It's kinda funny- there are so many of those shops. I think every street has either one of those shops. If not both. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but there were at least 3 of each shop in that small bit of city we shopped at. I bought 3 shirts and 2 jackets. Then, after that shopping spree (my parents and brother all got new clothes too) we went back to my aunt's apartment.

Approximately 30 minutes later, my grandpa, uncle and aunts drove by and picked us up in my uncle's van. Then, we went to Stanley, which is this major tourist attraction. It's almost like a harbour. There are little shops, those mini portable shops that sell really cheap stuff that Hong Kong seems to have a lot of, expensive by-the-water restaurants, cheap by-the-water restaurants, a mini plaza and apartments. I took a few pictures, and I'll try to post them up when I get back home. Right after we stopped, there was a little shop where my mom got 2 mugs and my brother and I each got our Chinese and English names drawn with pretty paint brush-like strokes. After a while of walking, picture taking and chatting, we went over to McDonald's and had lunch. It's pretty unhealthy- I know, but I'm just telling it like it is. Plus, I have McDonald's very rarely. My uncle also took my brother and I to this small but expensive gelato shop and we each got a gelato. It was so yummy! Overpriced, but the waffle cone was really good. I had tiramisu, my brother, chocolate and my uncle, mango.

After looking around at Stanley for a bit, we went back into the van and made our way to the cemetery. There, we all payed our respects to my late grandmother. I miss her.

Then, we all went out for the Christmas dinner. We had Chinese food at this restaurant that was in the mall connected to my grandpa's apartment. The food was really good. And right before we went to the restaurant, my aunt and I went to this little shop in the mall, and we picked up some hair ties and clips. Good thing too- I was on a short supply of those. At the end of dinner, we shopped a bit more and then my family and I got a ride back to my aunt's. We were originally going to bus halfway back, but because both my brother and I were asleep, my uncle and aunt were really nice and drove us the whole way back. If you've ever been half-asleep and still extremely sleepy, you know how much getting a car ride back home means.

Blog Term2 Day28 AWESOME EDITION

Today was a more normal day. Not that the other days weren't normal, but for all those days, I was either going somewhere special, like Disneyland and Macau. Or had something specially planned out. Today, on Christmas Eve, my mom, brother, aunt and I went shopping. Hong Kong is actually pretty big, and I think I could get lost in 5 minutes. Well, it's not big but more like really confusing. In the morning, we had congee for breakfast. That was alright. It wasn't bad at all, but wasn't the best either. Then, we went on the subway to a mall, where we started our shopping trip. After going to that mall, we took the subway again to another mall. There, we did a little more shopping and my brother and I got some stationary which consisted of 2 pencils and 2 erasers, and we also bought a sketching pad for a friend, until having lunch at a small restaurant located inside the mall. The food was pretty good, and the portions were big too. I had baked sea bass on rice with lobster sauce. My brother had shrimp linguine, my mom, noodles in soup and my aunt, pan-fried noodles. I tried a bit of everything, and all the dishes were good.

After lunch, I bought a pair of flip flops from Roxy, and my mom got 2 shirts from Bossini. Then, we went our separate ways while my mom, brother and I went to a store called Watsons while my aunt went to get a cake. When we met up, we all came back home where we ate the cake.

After cake, my mom, brother and I went out again and met up with dad. When we finally met up, we had dinner and then shopped a bit more. Dinner was at a small restaurant that had made some of the best veggies and fish I ever tasted. Then, we went to Giordano and Bossini, where my dad got socks and a shirt. My brother got 2 shirts and I got a sweater/jacket. Then we took a small bus back home. Yay! What an awesome day!


Something I noticed about Hong Kong, even when it's night time, the streets and everywhere is always really bright. In fact, it's so well lit, you won't be able to tell the difference between night and day until you look up into the sky. Although that's good in some ways, it's kinda easy to see why Hong Kong has so much smog.

Blog Term2 Day27 AWESOME EDITION

Couldn't blog yesterday, so I'm gonna make it up right now since it's only 10:25pm. You know, usually, I'm still out at this time, and get back at around 11pm, so this is new. Actually, I got back at around 9:20pm. NEW RECORD! Alright, I'm gonna talk about yesterday, which was going to Disneyland. As you may have heard, the Disneyland in Hong Kong is really small. Which is true. Compared to the one in Cali, it's much smaller. But even though it was so small, my family and I weren't done seeing the attractions and shows etc. by the end of the day. And we were there from 12 noon to about 8:30pm. So although we were there for about 8 and a half hours, we still didn't get around to seeing everything. Pretty major huh? On the bright side, we did get to see and go on most of the fun stuff.

We watched The Golden Mickeys and The Lion King. They were both really awesome shows, but I liked The Lion King more because it was more theatre and acting (which I have learned to really appreciate since I'm in drama) although The Golden Mickeys was pretty good too. We also went on the train ride around Disneyland park. As for the rides, we rode on the It's a Small World, Flying Dumbos, the Cinderella Carousel and Space Mountain. I also really wanted to go on Autopia, but it was already really late. Plus, we had lunch there, which was okay. And popcorn too!

Another highlight of going to Disneyland was the Let it Snow parade. That was really fun and interactive. Plus, it was good knowing practically all the Disney characters. When I was younger, I was a Disney fanatic. I watched all the Disney princesses movies and knew all about Mickey Mouse and his friends, so going to Disneyland helped me remember a lot of stuff I had forgotten about Disney. Now, I have the constant urge to sit in front of a movie screen with a bucket of popcorn (or kettle korn) and eat my way through non-stop marathons of Disney princess movies. Not a bad idea. I think I'll do that when I get home. If the VCR machine still works...

My brother and I also spent about $80 on those Disney penny-pressers. When I went to the Disneyland in Cali, they had penny pressers. But because Hong Kong doesn't have pennies, we just give the machine $10 and they provide the copper-coloured coin. Is it worth $10 each? Probably not, since it's only a coin being heated and having cool pictures engraved on it. But in my opinion, totally worth it. Because first of all, it's cool, second, pretty, third, you could never make it at home and lastly, each piece makes a very good souvenir.

That day was very memorably awesome.

Blog Term2 Day26 AWESOME EDITION

Gonna sleep after this- so tired, but I have a feeling I'm gonna be really tired tomorrow, too, because I'm going to Hong Kong's Disneyland. Can't wait. I'm pretty excited, even though I heard it was really really small. It's still Disneyland. This post is mostly about what I did in Macau today. The stay at Hotel Golden Dragon was pretty good. It was 4 stars, and although it wasn't the fanciest, it was very comfortable. Macau is actually pretty small. It's even smaller than Hong Kong, so there wasn't really all THAT much to see. The main thing was that plaza I blogged about just a while ago (last blog, I believe), historic landmarks and exploring other hotels.

It's really crazy, because in Macau, there are hotels everywhere. And there are these free shuttles that can take you to almost whichever hotel you want. And they all link back to the ferry terminal, which is kinda like our airport. So after waking up, we went down to one of the hotel's restaurants where there was a buffet breakfast. That was pretty good. There was a lot of variety, and the food wasn't bad either. We all ate a lot, so again, no real lunch, but that was totally fine with all of us. For the whole morning, all we did was explore hotels. That might sound weird, but that's actually one of the main parts about Macau. One can just waltz up to a hotel, enter and take pictures and stuff. And get this- there are malls within the hotel! Is that crazy or what? Well, there are only malls for the 6 star hotels, but still, crazy. You know how the hotels we have only have a few small little boutiques? Well, in Macau, the 6 star hotels all have a lot of small little boutiques of designer stores. I don't think I've seen that many displays from Prada, Doir, Ralph Lauren, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Armani, etc. etc. Seriously, it was crazy. I would list more, but there are just too many. Oh yeah, and did I mention there are casinos in every single hotel? Kinda reminds me of Las Vegas, even though I've never been there, from what I gather, Macau is very similar to Vegas.

Then in the afternoon, we went back to that plaza. There, like the day before, we had a snack of curry fish balls, Portuguese egg tarts, pork chop buns and that ice cream dessert. Yum! Then, we walked and shopped a bit more before going for dinner which was at this Portuguese restaurant close to the plaza. The food was very good, and I noticed that Portuguese food had a lot of different kinds of sauces. That was the first time I ever had Portuguese food, and I really enjoyed it.

After dinner, we went back to the terminal, while my dad and both aunts got the luggage at the hotel. When we met up, we got the tickets and lined up for the boat ride back. And let me tell you, the boat ride is like no other. First of all, it's about 3 times fast than our ferries, and secondly, it's a lot more turbulent (I was close to falling over many times) and the boat has seats for everyone. Not like our ferries, where we can park the car on several levels and then go up to the main deck. No, it's just 2 levels, and both are for sitting. (Not that many people have cars anyways, so car parking is totally not needed.) And we arrived at the terminal, we did all that passport stuff, and then got a taxi to my aunt's home. Blog Term2 Day25 AWESOME EDITION

I think I'm gonna write AWESOME EDITION for every blog while I'm in HK. K, this one's about the day after just arriving. The next morning, I woke up at around 7:30am (I know, only 4 hours of sleep!) But I kinda had to wake up early because I had to get my HK ID. So now, I'm officially a Hong Kong citizen. They had to take a pic, and I must say, I look horrible. It's not even funny. But oh well. Before that, we had a really large breakfast consisting of congee, Chinese donuts and those rice-rolls. (I dunno what they're called in English...) Then, after breakfast and getting my ID, we went down to the harbour. Then, we sailed to Macau!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know, right? Awesomeness! And now I'm back.

Macau was amazing. So many historical landmarks and museums. We got there a little bit after lunch time. When we arrived, we (my mom, dad, brother and I) met up with my 2 aunts and grandpa. But we were all so full after the breakfast, we didn't have lunch until around 3pm. At Macau, after we checked in at the Hotel Golden Dragon, we went to this plaza. There, we had lunch which consisted of wonton noodles in soup and then we walked around the plaza. Surprisingly, the plaza was very large. And along the way, we ate some of Macau's most famous foods. That list of food consists of: Portuguese egg tarts, this pudding-ice cream dessert, curry fish balls and steamed milk. The list might be longer than that but right now, it's 11:40pm. And I'm tired. After the snack, we went up to St. Paul's Cathedral. That's the famous church that got burnt down except for the front. We took sooo many picture of St. Paul's. And it was truly amazing! When we were done with the pictures, the walking and the shopping, we went for dinner at this restaurant connected to a hotel. I believe that restaurant was Shanghai cuisine, But at that point, I was so tired, I don't think I really took much in. Oh well, what do you expect from a person with only 4 hours of sleep.

Blog Term2 Day24 AWESOME EDITION

Alrighty- the plane ride wasn't awesome. But then again, what do you expect right? Everyone knows that plane rides are the most amazing forms of comfort. It wasn't awful though. I'm a pretty optimistic person when it comes to planes because I love airports and traveling, and that means long car rides, boats and planes. So naturally, I like the whole package. I love traveling. It's one of my favourite things in the world. It truly is- always fun. And I've been fortunate enough to travel a bit.

My family and I booked a flight on Japan Airlines, so we got to stop at Japan. Anyways, we went to the airport early-ish in the morning, got on the plane before noon and took off. Then, because of the different time zones, we ended up in Japan around afternoon. The airplane food tasted like... airplane food. Wonderful description huh? Then, we stayed at the airport for several hours before boarding another JAL flight to HK. By the time we got to HK, it was 11pm. And by the time I slept, it was 3am. You know what this means? Jet lag.

Blog Term2 Day23 AWESOME EDITION

Hahahaha, dontcha just love the title? Finally on the computer. Wow, I wasn't on the computer for like... 4 days. That's a record for me. Although when I get older, I'm gonna try to not go on the computer for a year. That'll be my goal after I'm done school though, because technically, you need a computer for school, since a lot of projects are computer based. Surprisingly, I don't miss not going on the computer. If it wasn't for emailing friends etc. I don't think I'd bother with the computer at all. And blogging. That's kinda fun too. And at least it's helped my typing.

ON VACATION RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!! Since I haven't blogged for about 4 days, I'm gonna do all of them right now. And this might take about an hour or more to write all down, but I'm gonna talk about my trip so far. I guess this blog'll be about being in Hong Kong in general- kinda like a preview. The next will be about the plane ride, the one after that- Macau day 1 (I went to Macau too, just came back actually.) and the fourth- Macau day 2. Sounds good? Does to me!

Blog Term2 Day22

I can't believe that by tomorrow I'll be halfway across the globe. I'm so excited. I don't even know how I'm going to sleep tonight, with all that excitement. So I might just exhaust my self out with last minute packing, cleaning my room, reading, science homework (BLAH!) etc. I haven't even packed yet... I mean, I chose some clothes I'm gonna bring, but I haven't put it into the suitcase or anything. I also have to clean my room, because it's a total mess. Fun... But to tell you the truth, I love packing. I find packing and cleaning my room quite fun, as long as the music's on. Then I'm happy with that kinda thing.

Today was so much fun. All the classes were short, and I could feel the excitement in the air as everyone was getting ready for the vacation. I know I'm gonna miss my friends, but at least I can email them! That's always fun. After the awesome day at school and the even awesomer winter assembly, my best friend and I went with mom and my brother to have lunch. And guess what? Halfway through eating, one of my other friends showed up, so we all had lunch together. Then, we went to Oakridge where I had a return some book before the vacation. Then we went and got a gelato and shopped a round a bit.

Blog Term2 Day21

OMGOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tomorrow is the last day of school until winter break! I'm really excited because firstly, it's almost Christmas. And also, I'm going to Hong Kong, so that totally adds to the awesomeness. But at the moment, I'm suffering from a headache. It's not a migrane, so that's great, but I have a science test tomorrow to study for, so I might take an Advil. I think it's because I've been watching movies since 8:30 this morning. In the morning, I had the Synergy Christmas party, where we watched an awesome movie, whose name escapes me. But I do remember it was really great. And funny too. We also had secret Santas, and I got a cake. It's not real, but it actually looks like a real slice of cake. It's made of a pink towel and decorated really genuinely. As for the food- practically everyone brought chips and pop. And other assortments of junk food. I, myself brought brownies. But guess what? I didn't even eat a single chip or drink any pop! Instead, I drank orange juice and ate mostly healthy foods. Well, I did have some unhealthy foods too, but no chips. During math class, we watched Wall-E. And during classe de francais, we watched Le Choirese. (I don't know how that's spelled...) In other words, I watched a movie for every single class. Crazy huh?

Tomorrow's the Synergy Christmas party. And I don't know any of the details about gift giving, food etc. I bought brownies and my secret Santa present, but I don't know any of the specifics, like am I supposed to just give it to my person? I guess after blogging, I have to make a trip to that google docs page. Even though most of it is just chatting. So sleepy at the moment. Had the square dancing test last block today. We messed up on one song, but that was it. So that's alright. I'm gonna miss square dancing, which was usually the highlight of my day. Oh well, good things don't last forever. Sometimes I wish they would though.

Blog Term2 Day19

Today in appskills, we watched this video on YouTube. And it was totally awesome. The dude in the video had a British accent, so I couldn't catch most of what he was saying, but his intentions were clear. And the parts I did understand were so funny! This video was about a guy with a microphone, and he was just talking into it. He also went to what looked like a church, and on the front steps in front of the square, he held up a sign saying,"Everything is OK" and then another one saying something about being an atheist. Funny. Then, the police came and they were all like,"Sir, I'd like you to stop talking into the microphone." or something like that. It was awesome! (I think I've said that a lot.) The only part I didn't really get was the fake police. That part got a little confusing...

Actually, this video kinda reminded me of one I watched a while back... It was of 2 people with signs saying,"Free Hugs" and in the beginning, nobody wanted a hug. Then, the police came and they were all like,"But it just says 'Free Hugs'..." and stuff. In the end, everyone was coming in for free hugs, and a lot of people had the signs offering free hugs. It was awesome. But as I'm typing this, I realize that the police or authoritative people are probably pretty unhappy with always being shown as the "bad guys" in these videos. But still, I loved that free hugs video, and I'm pretty sure a lot of people have seen it before. It's really cute.

My random thought/statement of the day: I'm crossing my fingers that no teachers are gonna give us any homework over break, because I'm gonna be away during vacation, and I really don't want homework over Christmas break. Because that's just sad.

I have a French and math test tomorrow. Ug. Don't you just love tests on the last week before winter break? I sure do. But at least I can look forward to the Synergy Christmas party. And winter vacation. I can't believe that it's almost the new year. 2010! I also can't believe that the winter Olympics in Van. is coming up so soon!

In English class today, we learned about grammar. Fun. However, I'm glad I learned that stuff because some of that information is either forgotten or unknown of by me.

Blog Term2 Day16

Today was an awesome day. I slept late last night, so I woke up really late too. But oh well. After I woke up at around 10am, I washed up, had breakfast and then started on my rudiments. That took a while because I only finished right before lunch. After lunch, I went to piano lessons like always. And after piano lessons, I dropped by a friend's house to finish up a project. Then I went to my mum's friend's housewarming party. That was awesome. We got a tour, had some drinks and snacks and chatted a while. Then, we came back home, had dinner and went off to church for Awana. Fun fun fun. I wish most Saturdays were like this. Only problem is, NO TIME TO DO HOMEWORK! Because right now, I've gotta go shower and then it's movie night! Yes! You know, I think there should be a law against homework over the weekend. I don't know about the rest of the high school body, but during the weekday, I work pretty hard on school stuff. And I think we deserve stress-free, all-fun, no-work weekends. Especially since for me, the weekend is the only time I actually get free time.

Today was a fairly awesome day. Appskills and socials was fun. I didn't even feel sleepy in math, and although French was kinda a drag, it was a short day, so the period went by pretty quickly. Then after school, because my mum had a day off, we went to Mountain Co-op in hopes of buying a really good sling-on backpack. But the colour I wanted didn't come in Left. The colour I really wanted is Eggplant. It's just the awesomest colour for a sling-on ever. But it only came in Right, and I prefer Left, so I'm just gonna wait for the new stock of Lefts to arrive and then I'll get an Eggplant Left. Hahahaha, does this even make sense?

Blog Term2 Day14

I have quite the amount of math homework that I've gotta finish. Unfortunately, I'm pretty tired, so I think I'm gonna take a 10 minute power nap. That always helps me re-energize. I was planning on taking that nap before dinner, but before dinner, I was reading The Time Traveler's Wife. Which was really good. I've been reading that book for a little more than a week now. And I've just finished it. Really awesome book. So if you haven't read it, you really should. I haven't watched the movie, but I'm sure like always, the book would be better than the movie. Which isn't surprising at all. We got back our science fair proposals today, and ours didn't make the cut. So we've talked to the teacher, and we're planning on doing our experiment on something different altogether. I really like this new idea. Actually, the idea we're gonna do now was our original idea. But then our science teacher told us we couldn't use living beings in our experiments, so we hastily changed our tactics to this new experiment. Which wasn't all that great. So today we talked to our teacher, and she said we could use our original idea. Now comes the part where we have to write our new proposals and stuff. Not too bad, but also kinda late since I believe the actual deadline is sometime Feb. And now we have to change our tactics. I guess that means Jan is gonna be busy.

My random thought/statement of the day: I don't know if I've already said this, but I love working with Middle Years/Synergy people. (Last year, we were Middle Years' people, so it's still okay for me to say that. I think.)

Blog Term2 Day13 SpecialEdition

The interesting superblog about particle physics and One Love. Actually, I was thinking about what to say while I was practicing piano. And I've gotta say, I'm pulling a make-it-up-as-you-go. I'm supposed to be 100% focused for practicing piano anyways. But sometimes, that's hard to do. Anyways, during synergy appskills today, our teacher showed us this vid of really awesome people singing One Love all around the world. We watched it last year, but I just love how everyone is so talented and joining forces to make the coolest cover of the song. And it truly was amazing. Then, our teacher told us to blog about the song and particle physics. And I was like huh?. So here it is.

One Love is about unity and keeping love- and everything good together, banish the bad. Particle physics could be the answer to all the equations and questions we have about this universe and beyond. Why do certain particles behave, interact or move like that? Unification of love, all that is good and answers to our existence.

Blog Term2 Day12

I slept quite late last night, so all throughout the day, I was a zombie. Urg... I could have slept earlier, but I wanted to finish more science, so I stayed up later. At least I got a lot of colouring done. That's always good. I think I'm gonna finish some French homework and then nap before dinner. After dinner, I'll practice piano and then finish my math homework. I really gotta sleep earlier because sleep makes all the difference in my performance in school. And life in general. Anyways, guess what? guess what!? I got my field hockey jacket, finally!!!!!!!!!! Back when it was still the field hockey season, we all decided on getting those sport jackets. So right after the season, we placed our orders in, and finally, after about a month, I got my jacket. I'm really happy because the jackets look pretty awesome. We have our last names on the back, the school name and mascot on the front. It also says FIELD HOCKEY team on the front. The jacket's blue, but it's not really the prettiest blue. I think it would have looked better if it was more navy. This blue is kinda like a half between dark and light. But kinda more on the dark side. But other than that, I just love the jacket! Yayayayayayayayaya!

My random thought/statement of the day: I love it! I've always wanted a field hockey jacket. I mean, I have an Adidas sports jacket, but not one for a sports team!

Blog Term2 Day11

I love square dancing! It's so much fun, especially when you get into the action of it. If you skip, smile and just stop worrying about holding someone of the opposite sex's hand, it's all good. I guess it may be kind of weird to hold someone else's hand, but at the same time, I just want to say,"Come on! We're just dancing!". I remember in grade 8, I was kinda nervous about holding someone's hand. Not anymore though. And square dancing is simple and fun. It's just the same moves over and over again, just in different orders and danced to different songs. I remembered a lot of the songs from last year. And about 2-3 of the songs I danced to earlier are the same as the ones from grade 8.

My random thought/statement of the day: I think we only have about 3 more square dancing classes before the unit's over. That's really sad. My P.E teacher said that this unit was shortened by a week. Awww.

I wish all winters were like this one. This is a pic of last year's Christmas. And it was amazing! I just love Christmas, and snow and playing in snow. Not only that, but just watching snow drifting down from the sky is beautiful. I was supposed to be asleep by now, because my goal was to sleep at 10 (which I seem to never get around to). But my brother needed help editing these paragraphs of his, so I helped him with those. I also didn't even practice piano today. And that really pisses me off. Because that means I didn't do anything today. Well, I did go to a friend's house to work on the science project, but I didn't do any auto homework.

When I was walking back home, I saw a crow hopping on one foot. The other seemed to be either broken or in severe pain. I'm still sad about it. But what could I have done? When I think about that crow, I don't know what to do. And that's the worse. When someone or something is in pain and you can't possibly do anything about it. I thought about calling the SPCA but I don't have their number and I think that if I tried to go too close to the crow, he/she might fly away. I was also scared that even if I was able to call the SPCA, the crow might have flown away. But I feel really sad. Really really sad. Poor crow. I hope it gets better.

I'm crossing my fingers that I get into honour roll... I know marks aren't everything, but I like being recognized for working hard. I'm sure everyone does. I still don't know my marks for appskills, P.E or drama. Anyways, today was a satisfactory day. I got to actually meet the synergy 8's for the first time. They're an interesting bunch. I only got to meet a handful of them, but they seem nice. Math was entertaining and fun. French was sad and learnful. Appskills was filled with knowledge and socials was amazing. Listening to Taylor Swift again. I just love her so much! You know how some singer's first album is amazing, then the second is okay... and the others are just terrible? Well, I love Taylor's first and second album so far. I don't have her second CD in platinum which has like... 6 more songs on it! Only her normal one, but I can still listen to it without thinking,"Urg, these songs are getting kinda annoying." Because with Taylor, I love all her songs. Every single one of them. Just some are better than others. But still, I guess her tunes are my style.

I have square dancing tomorrow, and I'm super duper excited because I really like square dancing. It's sooooooo much fun. Last year, I was kinda scared about it, but now that it's my second year square dancing, and I already know all the moves and have heard most of the songs at least once, it makes it a lot easier. I didn't get any homework today, but I got back a math test. Which I didn't do very well in. And that pretty much messed up my day. Besides the fact I'm feeling really low these days.

I can't believe it's Monday. Monday's are always slow. I think the highlight of my day was square dancing in P.E. Dancing is always fun for me. Once I get the moves, everything just works. And I have fun. Learning the moves is fun too. But not as. Feeling sad at the moment. Guess today just wasn't that great. And homework doesn't help either. And I got lotsa science.

Blog Term2 Day3 Superblog12

Ta-da another one of my family trip pictures. Darn, I don't remember where I took this one... But I think I took this pic. Otherwise it was probably my mom. Because I think these pictures are from my mum's camera. I just love going on these trips because it's just so fun!!!!!! We always wake up at around 8, and then head out for breakfast. After breakfast, we're on our way. It's always fun because on the car ride there, my brother and I always play something or sleep. Trust me, my brother and I are practically famous for falling asleep during car rides. But I usually stay awake on our way there, because that's always the fun part. Then, we usually hike a bit if it's a trail. And we take pictures. And if it's on a beach, my brother and I see who can throw rocks the farthest into the water. My brother always wins. He has an amazing throw, it's freaky. Anyways, I love going on these family trips. I probably mentioned how much I love them a lot of times while blogging. And I just love doing those campingish things. Even though I've only actually ever camped in cabins twice in my life. Not even in a tent!!!!!!!!!!!! So that's why I really really wanna go camping this year.

Blog Term2 Day1?

Do you know what I've noticed? Because I type blogs every day, I've been getting very good at typing in general. Before, I was pretty slow, and I looked down at the keys a lot, but now I'm a lot better. Well, I can type a lot faster. I still make a lot of mistakes though. I find myself clicking the backspace button a lot. (At least once per sentence.) So I'm trying to lower that. But it's hard. If I really try to, I can type really fast, but those mistakes always slow me down. Oh well. Usually, I do my superblogs on either Friday or Saturday, but I think I'm gonna do my superblog tomorrow. Because right now, I've got to do science. And my appskills term 1 evaluation.

Blog Term1 Day79

Darn... last night, I slept at 12 for no reason. I was planning on sleeping at 10, but then I didn't understand science, so I went online to ask people for help. And at the same time, my English project group started emailing me about the presentation that was supposed to take place today. And it took us about half an hour organizing who did what and when. Then, I tried to do some more science. When I really couldn't understand it, I stopped working on it and decided to do it the next day. By then, it was already 11. After I washed up, my brother needed some help with homework, so I helped him on that too. And by the time I was done packing my backpack and stuff for the next day, it was already 12. That's pretty sad since I was planning on sleeping really early while the homework level is considerably low at the moment. Unfortunately, now, the homework level is a lot higher due to around 9 new worksheets from science. I think we were only supposed to get around 5, but because everyone was talking and some people actually got up in the middle of class to talk, our teacher gave us punishment worksheets that are due next class. I wasn't really one of the talkers. I mean, I did talk (saying I didn't would be a lie), but I was also aware of the fact the teacher was pretty unhappy with the class, so I didn't talk after I noticed something was wrong. But still, I'm glad the teacher gave us those worksheets. That might help the class be a little bit more conservative when it came to the talking...

Blog Term1 Day78

Last night, I slept at 11pm!!!!!! I'm so proud of myself. Usually, I sleep at around 12-1am, so I'm really really happy I got to slept at 11. Tonight, I also want to sleep at latest 11pm, because a good night's sleep really makes all the difference. Tonight, I have math and science homework, but I know for a fact science is gonna take a while to complete, so I'm probably only going to be able to do science, which is due tomorrow. Math is due Fri. Plus, I haven't practiced piano in a while, so I have to practice more while homework isn't coming down in bucketloads. The good thing is, usually right after term ends, teachers are a little nicer about homework. And that's very good for us because that means we get to rest a bit before the climb begins again.

Urg. Blogger's finally working. I tried to access it about an hour ago, but the internet was down, so I had to come back to it. Oh well, I needed to shower anyways. Today, my topic is about sleeping. I don't think I've ever felt as tired and worn out as right now. Sure, I've slept later than last night, when I slept at 1am, but I feel drained right now. No, I feel worse than drained. I feel like part of me has shut down. So tonight, I'm gonna try to sleep at 10pm. Well, I was supposed to, but because I stayed a bit later than planned at my friend's house to work on the English project, I think I'm gonna have to slept at 10:30pm. Anyhow, my goal is to sleep earlier. Unfortunately, I also have a major French skit tomorrow, and I'm supposed to memorize all my lines. I'm really really tired, but I also have this skit. What should I do?

Blog Term1 Day76

Whenever I'm in my room, my hands always gradually freeze and I lost my gloves- the ones that cut off at the fingers, so your fingers are free... I've gotta find that. But I love my room. It's awesomely awesome. At the moment, my desk is pretty messy, but I've cleared some space for my mom's laptop and I'm using that. Actually, I was just doing math a few seconds ago. Then, after about half an hour, I gave up. I know I should probably finish that in a few moments, but I'm stuck on a question, and I find that if I come back to it later, it helps. Hmmm, I also had some kettle korn just a few seconds ago. Just the other day, when I was shopping around at Zellers with my brother and mom, I found Hevvy's Kettle Korn!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been looking for Hevvy's for the longest time, and when I actually found it, I begged my mom to get a bag. And today, we opened it and I just had a few handfulls. And boy, is it yummy! Actually, the kettle korn at the PNE is also really really awesome. When I went during the summer, we bought a big bag and we finished it all in about 2 hours. Thats how good it was. Ahhhh hands still really cold. And the whole putting-your-hands-under-your-armpits-theory always makes my armpits really really cold. So thats not good. Listening to Taylor Swift's first album at the moment.

Right now is technically my only break for the day, so I'm gonna take some time to blog. Then I'm gonna nap. Yep, nap. Last night, I slept late finishing my appskills ppt and then I woke up semi-early to go to church. So right now, I'm pretty drained. Not fully, but tonight I know I'm gonna be a zombie, so I'm gonna nap right now. Then at 3, I have to go to Vanessa's to work on an English project. And then, by the time I come back, it's probably gonna be dinner time. After dinner, I have to play piano, shower and so on. So when I finally get time to actually work on homework, it's probably gonna be at least 9pm. Then, I'm gonna practice for my appskills presentation, study for the socials quiz, finish a French dialogue, and if I still have some time after that, I'm gonna do science. But the chances of that are pretty slim.

Movie night. I've gotta finish off my appskills presentation afterwards, because tomorrow is also gonna be a busy day for me. Tomorrow, I don't think I'll even have any time to relax because from morning to night, I'm gonna be busy! I'm probably gonna blog about my day tomorrow. So no need to blog about it right now. Today was pretty awesome too. I went to Central Library today!!!!!!!!!!!! I love libraries, and I rarely go to Central, so that was a treat. It's always so exciting and fun and big and glassy! Plus, there are soooooooooo many books in there. Compared to Oakridge (the library I usually go to) it's super duper duper large. I love Central Library.

Closer to the beginning of the year, I went on another one of my family trips. I blogged about them before, but I'll just give a little bit more background information as a refresher. Sometimes, of both my brother and I don't have too much homework, my dad, mom, grandpa, brother and I go on little road trips. They aren't long. Maybe 4 hours or so, depending on where the destination is. Sometimes, we go to beaches, other times we go to mountains. Well, not mountains, but places where one can hike. This particular place was for hiking, and this is a pic of a nursing tree. I didn't actually learn this term from hiking with my family. But I did learn it from grad camp in grade 7. And when I think back at grad camp in grade 7, it makes me really really really want to go to camp this year as synergy grads. That would be the awesomest!!!!!!!

My hands feel frozen. Well, not exactly frozen, but they're really uncomfortably cold. And I can't type as fast as usual, so this blog is gonna take longer to type out. Actually, I think the reason for my cold hands is the fact I'm in my room. And apparently, the heat doesn't reach my room. So at night, I have to use extra covers. Hahahaha I just got a pair of gloves, and now I'm typing with them on. Which is actually quite hard because they make my fingers extra large, and I have to be careful about which keys I type. But now, I think I'm getting the hang of it. Yay. But actually, gloves don't really make my hands warm if my hands are already cold.... The only way for gloves to work is if your hands are already warm and the gloves just keep your hands continuously warm. Or, they protect your hand from the cold. Darn, I just learned that you can't operate the keypad-mouse with glovey-fingers. So I had to take my gloves off to actually click something. Oh well. English speeches tomorrow. And I'm not nervous yet. But don't worry, I will be.

Today was actually a pretty awesome day and surprising night too. Tonight was the field hockey dinner. Actually, I knew the dinner was tonight a while ago, but I didn't get further info about it, so I didn't think it was still gonna happen. But during school, I ran into some field hockey teammates, and they confirmed that it was going to take place. At first I didn't really want to go because I have a lot of homework, but in the end, I decided to go. We went to the Red Robin on Broadway and Oak, and it was soooo much fun. I was actually kinda scared that nobody would show up because it was so last minute, but when we got there, most of the team was already there. So that was awesome. It was a pretty fun night. First, we talked a bit, then we ordered. I got the mushroom burger and iced tea. I was gonna choose the salmon and chips, but 2 of my friends already ordered it, so I chose the burger. Plus, I think Red Robin is famous for burgers, so I got a burger. :) And I always get iced tea. Thats kinda like a tradition for me. Whenever I go out for lunch or dinner, I always get iced tea. Unless it's for breakfast, then I either get milk or a milkshake. Anyways, the night was pretty awesome. I'm soooooo glad I went!!!!!!

My random thought/statement of the day: I love tabby cats, hippos and meerkats. (Of course, I love a whole bunch of other animals too, but those are my favs.)

I am so glad that I have already finished all my science. Unfortunately, I still have to write and practice my oratorical speech. My topic is, Why field hockey should be more publicized. I love field hockey, and I've realized that I've never actually seen or heard about field hockey on T.V. In fact, if it wasn't for a friend I knew who played field hockey, and the fact the school has a field hockey team, I probably wouldn't have known it existed. I mean, how many people can look at a field hockey stick and actually know what it is? People might look at a basketball and know at once- that's a basketball, but I'm pretty sure not that many people would recognize a field hockey stick when they saw one.

My random thought/statement of the day: At this moment, I'm really really tired. I didn't get enough sleep last night, resulting in a very sleepy me.

For today's blog, I'm gonna talk about what I did for today's pro-d day, because today was just that awesome. I slept extremely late last night, because I was cleaning out my room, and I had a whole bunch of hoodies and shirts to put away. But whenever I clean my room, I always listen and sing along to CDs I have. So that makes the time go faster and it also makes cleaning my room actually semi-fun. So cleaning my room isn't that bad. Now about today. When I woke up at 9:20am this morning, I still felt kinda tired, but once I had a very yummy breakfast of a cheezy English muffin and a large glass of milk, I felt a lot better. To me, breakfast gets rid of almost all my morning-sleepiness. Then, I washed up and did the science notes I was dreading to finish. After that, my mom and I went out to Metrotown and each had an extremely large bowl of ramen for lunch. And it was very very very yummy. :) After that, we went to HMV, American Eagle, and T&T Supermarket. Then, I went over to a friend's house to work on the English novel project. And after working on that, I came back home and finished some more homework and then it was dinner. Yep, that's pretty much how my day went. Pretty awesome in my opinion, because I had fun and also did a lot of homework.

My random thought/statement of the day: I wish all weekends were 3 days long instead of 2, but I know that would cause a lot of inconvenience. But still, it's still a cool idea.

Listening to One Fine Wire by Colbie Caillat. I love that song so much! Actually, I love Colbie Caillat, she's just so talented, and her songs are amazing. Especially from her first CD, but I also have her second, and it's good, but not as great as her first. But then again, that's how it usually is. Same with movies and books. The first ones are always the best. Last night was movie night, and we watched G.I Joe, Rise of the Cobra. I was actually extremely skeptical about that movie, but the more I watched it, the more I loved it. It's not what I call original but at least it wasn't exactly the same as every other action movie. The story reminded me a lot of Iron Man (the one with Robert Downey Jr.). And I loved the order the sequence of the movie. I really liked how they would go back in time to give the audience a clear understanding of what was happening in the future. Not only that, but there were so many funny parts that I just kept repeating because it was just so darn funny. And the funny parts weren't cheezy either. And sometimes, that's hard to do. There was also romance, and those parts made me smile. So although the movie wasn't perfect, it was totally my kind of music. Action with hilarious and romantic parts. The perfect combo, in my opinion.

I think it's become a tradition for me to blog on Saturday mornings. Usually, I blog on Saturday nights, during movie night, but now that my mornings are freed up, I can do whatever I want within the 3 hours I have. Actually, I can't do whatever I want because I usually have to last minute-rudiments. I know I should do that on Friday night, but I like to sleep early on Friday nights. Plus, last night, I finished all my French homework and started on some science. I wanted to do more science, but the homework is taking notes from the textbook which is very very dull and un-interactive. So after a while, I can't take any more notes and I just stop. Oh yeah, I gotta clean my room today. Urg, I've been avoiding that chore. It's not that messy, but it's messy enough. I mean, there's nothing on the floor... yet, but there is a lot of clothes I have to put away on my bed, and my desk has a whole bunch of stuff on it. Well, that should only take me an hour, and whenever I clean my room, I always listen to CDs. And right now, I'm totally into Taylor Swift, and for a birthday present, my mom got me both of her CDs! So that is totally awesome!

Ta-da!!! I wanted to post these pics up earlier, but it always takes fooorever to load the pics. So here they are. As you might remember from my previous blog on Wednesday, my family, best friend and I went to the Old Spaghetti Factory. It's kind of like a tradition for us. For the last 2 years, my best friend and I have always gone to the Old Spaghetti Factory for a birthday meal. The first pic is one of their very very very very yummy zucchini sticks. And trust me, those sticks might just be the best zucchini sticks in the world! And the second pic is one of my favourite pastas there. It's the pot-pourri, and even though it's not that well known, it's been my favourite ever since I've gone there. It's just the best!

Now about today- for socials, we had the huge English Civil War essay-test. And to tell you the truth, I know I could have done a lot better. The main problem was not that I didn't know my stuff- I think the problem for me was that there was a lot of pressure and in the last 20 minutes, I was hurrying to finish it up. But on the other hand, at least next time, I'll know what to expect. And to hurry up from the start.

You know what an extremely yummy snack is? Melted cheese. It doesn't even have to be on bread or anything. Just get a plate, put a bit of cheese on it and then heat it in the microwave. That way, it's very yummy and it's also quite healthy. Although cheese does have a lot of oils and I believe the cholesterol is very high (I'm not 100% sure about that), it's still very good to get the recommended amount of dairy products to keep bones strong and teeth healthy. I just did a written P.E test about the 4 food groups and fitness, so I have the food groups, bones and healthy stuff on the mind. For snack today, I had a crumpet! And I love crumpets, they're just so darn good. Especially if you heat them in the toaster and then add a little bit of butter and maple syrup. Yum! That's how I like them anyways.

Today was the 2nd rotation at school. And personally I think the new block system is messed up. Last year, we used Block A-H, but this year, we're using a different system. Now, it's 1-1 to 1-4 and then 2-1 to 2-4. The first number being the day and the second, the block in the day. But now that the rotations have taken place, the second number just... doesn't make sense. So I think for the next while, I'm gonna be confused. But oh well, I'll catch on soon enough. Tomorrow is gonna be a crazy day. For applied skills, we're gonna start the ppts. For socials, we have a MAJOR essay-test on the English Civil War and I'm totally freaking out over it because I'm not too sure what to expect. And then for French, apparently tomorrow, there's gonna be this major exam that's gonna knock the socks off everyone. So you can tell, tomorrow, is just gonna be an amazing day. Yay.

Today was such a busy day. I slept pretty late last night finishing homework, so I slept in this morning. I slept until 9:30. Then, I woke up, washed up and then had some breakfast. After breakfast, my family and I watched the Remembrance Day ceremony on channel 3, I believe. Then, there was the minute of silence. After watching a bit more of the ceremony, I finished some science homework. By that time, it was getting close to lunch time. For lunch, we went to Richmond's Old Spaghetti Factory with my best friend as a birthday ceremony. (And just because I love food) My dad ordered the seafood linguine, my mom, brother and friend ordered the pot-pourri and I ordered the penne with chicken. I usually order the pot-pourri, but I wanted to try something new and different. And my mom said the chicken penne was really good too. And it was very good. So after we finished eating and dropped my best friend off at her home, my parents drove me over to another friend's house to work on a group project. (I try not to include any names of the people I am blogging about for privacy.) So then, for the next 4 hours, my 2 friends and partners and I worked on a mystery novel for English. Then, I got back, showered and now, I'm blogging. Dinner's ready soon.

Today went by pretty quickly. Usually, my classes crawl by, but today, they went by at a jogging speed. Not bad. Not bad at all. In math, apparently, a lot of people failed a certain test (and I'm pretty sure I was part of the "failed" group because I had troubles understanding the questions), so the teacher went over the concepts and examples, and then gave us that test again. I'm really grateful for my math teacher's understanding and teaching skills. And that truly shows how much my math teacher really cares about teaching us. I'm pretty sure he could have just let all those bad marks pass him by, but he taught us the lesson again (not too in depth, because we didn't have all the time in the world), but that really made my day because I was worrying about the test earlier. Then in French, time seemed to go by faster than usual, and that was weird, because usually French seems pretty slow, and I usually ask my friend what the time at an average of 2 times per class. But this time, I didn't even ask once! Now that is weird... Even for me. Then, it was lunch where I relaxed and ate with friends. In applied skills, for the first 20 minutes, there was the school's Remembrance Day assembly. Then, during applied skills, we had the "lottery" for presentation orders. And finally, the last class of the day was lovely. I had socials, and time seemed to waltz by. We have a major essay test on Friday (the first one in my lifetime for socials!!!) so we were going over homework and other study tools etc.

I really dislike Mondays. I don't hate them or anything, but I just wish the weekend was a little longer. For the longest time, I disliked Fridays the most because Chinese school was the next day and I always had to cram for dictations and tests. But now that I graduated, my Fridays are much happier and easy going. And I usually choose that night to sleep very very early. During the weekdays, I sleep as early as I can, but that depends a lot on my homework load. But on Fridays, I try to sleep at 9:30, on Saturdays, I usually sleep pretty late because that's movie night and then on Sundays, I also usually sleep late because thats kinda like my last minute homework finishing session. But I'm trying to fix that and sleep early on Sunday nights too. So tonight, I'm really gonna work hard on sleeping at latest 11:30. Sleep really really helps me get on with the day, and it's amazing how much of a difference it is.

My random thought/statement of the day: Yum, for some reason, right now, I really wanna have a big bowl of strawberry Jell-o. With whipped cream.

Urg, I just came back from dim sum. And I'm not even a dim sum fan. Seriously, if I had the choice, I wouldn't have gone because to me, dim sum isn't even yummy. But because it's with family, it's okay. I'm not too sure why I don't like dim sum. I know that when I was a lot younger, I used to love dim sum, but now, it's just not my thing. But every time I go, I always come back full anyways because my parents are always nice about me going to dim sum and they always find something yummy for me to eat. Thats what I love about dim sum with family. Otherwise, it would be a pain. Of course, unless I go with my cousins, then it's a little better because I would have someone to talk to. My brother and I used to talk when we went out to dim sum, but now, he always plays his DS. So I'm left to do something else. But then again, sometimes, we play Mario Kart together, and that makes it really fun.

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! GUESS WHAT I DID? LAST NIGHT, I SLEPT AT 10PM! Okay, I know that that line I just typed out was kinda weird, but it was totally true! Last night, I was so tired and since it was a Friday night, I just dropped whatever I was doing and went to bed. I was supposed to practice piano and finish my rudiments, but instead, I just went to bed. I would have done it once I got back home, but I forgot I had a dentist appointment, and after coming back from the dentist's, it was already dinner time! After dinner, I blogged, researched on antimatter, showered, brushed my teeth and then slept. I was supposed to have been in bed by 9:30pm, but then a friend called me and asked for some homework help. So now, here I am in the morning, blogging. It's really amazing what a good night of sleep can offer. But now, that means in the next 2 hours, I have to practice piano and finish my rudiments. And trust me, those chores aren't really the funnest things to do in the morning. But oh well, I still got my 11 hours of sleep! (Something I haven't gotten in a very long time.)

Aww, darn, I didn't make the school play. I'm both sad and happy. I'm sad because of course, I wanted to be in the school play, and it would have been an awesome experience. I also love acting, so being in the school play would have given me time to practice and rehearse, and know what it's like to be in a play. I take drama, but I'm sure the feeling would be very different. I'm happy because several of my friends or people I know got into the production, and I'm very happy for them. And also because I'm still learning how to manage my time better and I wouldn't want to sleep too late due to rehearsals and stuff like that. If I had gotten in, I would be very happy and proud of myself, but I would also be worrying about my time management too, so in a way, it's a 50/50 thing. So maybe, I can take part of the Spring production. I hope that within that time frame, I will learn how to manage my time better, and sharpen my acting skills. I know I shouldn't take this personally, but not getting into the school play has made me not as confident about my acting skills. I know it shouldn't, but it's really hard to ignore. But I'm pretty sure I'll gain that confidence back soon.

My random thought/statement of the day: I'm really glad the school has a compost system. It was one of my 10by10 goals.

Hmmm, still don't know if I made the school play. Oh well, I'll find out soon enough! Anyways, I'm so happy that I got to take part of "Take Your Kid To Work Day". To tell you the truth, I was waiting for this moment since I started high school. And I must say, it wasn't the best day in the world, but it was definitely an experience I would remember always. And the day didn't even drag by! The time seemed to actually fly, no even more than that, time seemed to go at the speed of a freight train or something. It was amazing. I was tired again, due to lack of sleep, but I only really felt tired once, then, I felt awake and alive again. It was so much fun! I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed every moment of it. I went with my mum, and we arrived there around 8am like we were supposed to. The traffic wasn't crazy or anything, so it all went great. For lunch, we went to this fusion restaurant, and the food was okay, not the best, the service was alright, and I guess overall, I could describe it as your typical restaurant. Not too awesome, but not bad either. I had seafood udon in soup, and my mom got rice with pork chops. Hahaha, my names for the dishes aren't as creative as the ones shown on the menu. The place was quite packed, and it had a very comfortable feeling to it. And after eating, I was very full. Not over-the-top or anything though. I think that this "Take Your Kid To Work Day" day was very successful and I'm really glad this day was invented.

I just realized that if the cast list is available tomorrow for the school play, I won't know if I got in or not. But that's okay, I guess I could wait one more day. Plus, it's not confirmed whether it would be out so soon. I want to get in, because that would just be amazing and I love acting, but at the same time, I'm nervous. Plus, being part of the school play takes a lot of dedication and time. But I figured that if there is any time to be part of a school play, why not now? I love acting, and being in high school with drama classes and what not really helps. Back in elementary, we didn't have any drama clubs or anything like that, so there wasn't much to do. Sure, in classes, there was the occasional mini skit that was to be preformed in an assembly, but nothing big. Nothing like what high school has to offer! And in a way, that's good because it just makes high school that much more interesting and anticipated. But once you think about the homework, high school doesn't seem all that exciting anymore. Then again, it's all about the learning experience.

My random thought/statement of the day: I can't believe that Take Your Kid To Work Day is tomorrow. I'm quite excited... besides the fact I have to wake up earlier.

Actually, at the moment, I'm listening to songs as I type this. You know which song? Well, I'm listening to All Star from Shrek 1. However, I'm pretty sure this song is borrowed from a band... Not sure which one it is, but I still really love this song. It's so awesome. One day, I'm gonna learn the lyrics and then sing it everywhere. I do that with a lot of songs. Especially Christmas songs. Whenever the Christmas season is remotely close, I'm all about Christmas songs and spirit and stuff. I just love Christmas. Even all those songs replaying over and over again. And all the repetitive decorations- I just love it all!

Anyways, this blog is gonna be about the auditions I attended after school today! Last year, I kinda wanted to join the school play, but firstly, being new to school is kinda a hard to place to start, plus I wasn't sure if I could manage my time well enough. So now, a year later, here I am auditioning. I've never actually auditioned for anything in my life. I've had maybe 1-2 interviews in my life regarding volunteering or a position for volunteering. In my opinion, I did pretty well in the interviews because I'm not uncomfortable about those things. As for the audition, I didn't know what to expect, so that was a new experience for me. But I take and took drama in school, so I was actually quite familiarized to the warm ups. Plus, it was awesome! First, there were forms to fill out, then we warmed-up, after that, we got into groups of 2-3 and rehearsed a skit for approximately 20 minutes. Then, it was time to show. My group was actually the first to go, which is good and bad. We were all new to auditioning and school plays, but I think we did pretty well. Of course, I hope I get in, but if I don't that's not a big deal either, because I tried my best and like I said, I'm new to this, so even if I don't get in this play, I can always audition for the next one. And then, I'll know what to expect.

I hope the picture came out right! Well, anyways, this place, I believe is called Bunzen Lake. (Sorry if the spelling is off.) We went there a while back, and I wanted to superblog it right away, but it takes time for the pictures to download off the camera memory stick onto the computer. Plus, my family isn't really all that high tech, including me, so we don't download pics onto the computer too frequently. So as I was saying, on a weekend, we decided to go for an extremely miniature "family vacation". Actually, my parents are quite fond of going to these awesome little trips where we go to different beaches or landmarks or hiking trails etc. Usually, what we do is wake up early, go out for breakfast, and then head out. The car ride is usually around 1-3 hours, depending on where we're going. This trip, took us about an hour and a half to get there. Then, we stopped by the beach, and there also happened to be a small hiking trail, but we didn't really hike because it was actually quite cold and it wasn't sunny. And as you can see from the picture, it was actually quite cloudy. So after hanging out, petting the dogs and walking along the beach, we all filed back into the car and drove home. By the time we got back, it was a bit after lunch time, so we went out, grabbed some lunch and then came back home.

IT'S HALLOWEEN! AND I CAN'T WAIT TILL TONIGHT! I'm also excited because we get to move our clocks back an hour. I know that it's a weird thing to be happy about... in a way... but for some reason, I love moving my clock back. It's just so awesome! To me, it's like gaining a special hour in life. Anything that "messes" up time is kinda weird, bad an awesome to me. Like when you take a flight to ex) Russia and throughout those 12+ hours, you gained more than 12+ hours. Kinda weird and cool huh? That's why time is bizarre. And to me, that's like time traveling. I'm also super duper excited about Halloween. I'm not going trick-or-treating because instead, I'm helping out to at Funfest which is like trick-or-treating except you play games to win prizes and candy and there's hot dogs and yummy drinks and it's safer than walking around at night collecting candy... You could say it's like a party. So I'm really happy about that. Unfortunately, that means that I won't have time to work on any homework this afternoon or tonight, which kinda bugs me because I have a really large load of homework to do this weekend. In other words, the only time I have to do my large mound of homework is Sunday. Afternoon. Which is clearly not enough time to do enough of anything. Oh well, I'll make it happen. I always do.

Friday. Yay. Actually, I'm usually happy about the weekend, but not this week. I'm not too sure why, but I just feel tired, and this weekend, I have a lot to do. I was contemplating whether or not type out that long list, but I think I'll not. First of all, it would be too long and plus, I'm gonna talk about the Olympic journey. My mom is watching CTV news at the moment, and since I'm in the living room too, I'm gonna talk about that. Apparently, the Olympic flame came from Greece all the way to Victoria and it arrived this afternoon, I believe. And then, they had a huge ceremony for it and the flame relay started. It's so awesome! And the torches look really pretty. I also love the Vancouver Olympic colours. I believe they are blue, green and white, and I just love that combo, because not only do the colours look good together, but it's totally Vancouver!

My random thought/statement of the day: I can't believe the 2010 Winter Olympics are taking place in Vancouver! Too bad we don't have any days off class. I'm still kinda unhappy about the fact we don't get any school off during the Olympics. Because the Olympics are never going to take place in Vancouver ever again so why can't we go and watch? :(

Hey, isn't that ironic? I'm typing up this blog at 5:51pm, and it happens to be my 51st blog of this year! While I'm typing up my greetings, I'm thinking of what to say. And I think I'm gonna talk about drama. Personally, one of my favourite classes is drama. But then again, I like all my classes. I'm happy because I have 4 synergy classes with all my friends. I also love P.E because... I love P.E. And in both French and math, I learn loads. So all in all, I'm pretty enthusiastic about school. I'm not the type to go around saying I hate school or anything, because I know and understand that school is a privilege, but at the same time, I'm not totally crazy about school, because school provides a lot of pressure and makes me lose sleep, but school is pretty awesome. Plus, without school, I probably wouldn't know 85% of the people I do know now. So, anyways, about drama. On Monday and Tuesday, after school, I heard from the announcements that there are auditions for the winter school play. I really want to audition because I love acting and drama, plus actually taking drama classes has really strengthened my abilities and even though first term is not even over, I feel like I've learned a lot. But my decision is still 50/50.

Blog Term1 Day50

We won the championships! YES! I am so super duper happy! After a fun and learning season of field hockey, I am glad that we won. Because personally, I think we have the best team in the league and I'm glad that we came through. Throughout the whole season, we never lost a game, we either won or tied so I'm very happy with the results. And I'm really glad we have such an awesome team with amazing team work. I am also very grateful for the other team. They were fun to play and even though they got second place, they were genuinely happy for us, at least that's what I could read from the faces. Sure, they won't be super duper happy, but at least they weren't sulking or anything. So I was just want to thank them for having amazing sportsmanship. The game was so intense! We only scored one goal in the last 5 minutes of the game, so all throughout the game, everyone was on the guard, and the people from the sidelines were screaming and cheering all the way. In the end, the score was 1-0. And I can't believe we just scored a goal! Talk about craziness!

So after the game, for championships, we always have a small ceremony. In that ceremony, everyone gathers around and gets their metals, we get our trophy for the second year in a row and we also get a lovely blue banner that we get to put up in the large gym at the school. We also get certificates, but because it was raining, our coach is gonna give it to us when we return the jerseys.

My random thought/statement of the day: I can't believe the school season is already over! But don't worry, I'm still gonna play. Next year and maybe, if I can sign up, I'll do Hawks too.

Blog Term1 Day49

Oh. My. Gosh. The moment I have been anticipating is almost here. Tomorrow, it's field hockey championships and I'm planning on ending the season with a bang. The team we are playing is pretty tough. I like to keep information anonymous unless you want to waste your time doing tons and tons of research. But like I was saying, the team we are versing is pretty intense, so we're gonna have give it all we got to win with flying colours. Which is what we want to do. In a time like this, I like to put myself in the other team's shoes. What would they be thinking right about now? Would they be worried? Confident? Over-confident? Scared? I'm not too sure, but the other team seems pretty tough so I doubt they are scared, but hey, you never know. They might think that we are scared. But don't worry, we're not. Cuz you know what we're gonna do? We're gonna win that championship and smile and high five the other team sincerely at the end of the game. We're tough, well rounded and make a good team. Of course, one should never be too overconfident because that could be our failure. But we have practiced hard, and I'm sure no matter what happens tomorrow, we're gonna have a fun time and had a fun season.

My random thought/statement of the day: I can't believe the field hockey season ended so quickly, but then again, it's gonna get rainy soon, so I guess it's reasonable. Oh yeah, and I really hope it doesn't rain during the game tomorrow. Well, fingers crossed!

Blog Term1 Day48

I really love field hockey. It's one of the best and funnest sports to play. Ever. There's running involved. You get a stick. And a ball. And for safety, you must always wear shin guards, runners or cleats and a mouth guard. And that's it. After that, you can do whatever. There are a few techniques to learn. And after you learn them, the ideal situation would be to practice, practice and practice. There are dribbles, passes, hits and just really awesome cool tricks that I can never do but attempt to do. Daily. Then, there's the whole teamwork factor which I love. When you're on the field and the ball rolls your way, you can hear your team members cheering you on. And it feels so darn good. I think that's the thrill of playing in a team. Sure, sports are fun to play by yourself (if you can actually do something) but when it comes to teamwork and good sportsmanship, nothing can beat that good feeling you get inside. From the moment we arrive on the field and practice, it's all fun. Up until the very last part where we say our, "Hip hip horrays! (times three)". And high five the other team. Then, theres always the thrill of winning, the slightly upset feeling of losing. And after each game, we all run to our goalie and either tackle her, or hit her real hard on those large shin pads she has with our field hockey sticks. And I realized something very very important. The stick we have truly affects the play. Earlier, before the game started, I lent my stick out to one of my team members and then, I borrowed a stick from somebody else. And the stick felt so different from my own. And now, I've come to realize how very different each stick is and how important a stick is to everything.

My random thought/statement of the day: Just as an FYI fact, GRAYS sticks are very good and I love the quality and how the sticks can handle the ball.
